Music Export Norway's GSA office
Official opening in Berlin
by Webmaster, 31.01.2011
Music Export Norway's office for the German speaking market is officially open for business.
It is with great pride that Music Export Norway officially opens the office for the German speaking markets (GSA) in Berlin. There has been a demand from the Norwegian music industry to enhance the export efforts in this region, and Germany is among the most important markets for Norwegian exporters who want to reach out to an international audience.
The official opening took place on January 27th, and included concerts from three of the winners of a-ha's scholarship, which was awarded last year. Susanne Sundfør, Casiokids and Moddi have received the award for their innovation and creativity, and it has provided the artists with a start-up capital to present their songs to new listeners.
The concerts took place at the venue Maschinenhaus in Kulturbrauerei in Berlin, in front of an audience consisting of German industry players, the press and representatives from the Norwegian music industry and authorities. The event was held in cooperation with the Embassy in Berlin, which also gave a reception earlier in the evening.
Good experiences
The new office in Berlin is based on the model from Music Export Norway UK office in London. The feedback on the London office, which opened in 2008, has been very good, and a separate office with primary responsibility for Norwegian music export in the German-speaking markets, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, is a natural step in Music Export Norway's work.
Head of the Berlin office, Siri Narverud Moen, worked at Music Export Norway's main office in Oslo for a while, before moving to Berlin in 2010 to establish the new office.
- I am very pleased that we could present these three exciting Norwegian artists at the opening, and the interest from both the German media and music industry is great. We believe that the Berlin office will be of benefit to Norwegian exporters who have this market as a priority, said Narverud Moen.
