Music Export Norway 2000 - 2010

Music Export Norway 10 years

by Webmaster, 03.06.2010

Music Export Norway celebrates ten years in existence with a new home page and the launch of our brand new Export Program.

June 9th 2000 Music Export Norway was established by the Norwegian music industry. The idea was to create a service and resource centre for exporters of Norwegian music.

Much has happened over the last ten years. Despite declining record sales, the Norwegian music industry has become increasingly more professional in terms of export. Players in a variety of genres can point to an increasing interest in Norwegian music from other territories.

Now in English

Music Export Norway celebrates the anniversary with the launch of a brand new web site. As you already might have noticed, English will be the primary language for the home page. As a result of the increase in Norwegian music’s international attention, we get a lot of requests from abroad. Hopefully we will be able to accommodate more of these requests through our web site. Also, all of the Norwegian exporters master the English language quite well, so the language should be no problem.

There is however one area of the web site which will be primarily for the Norwegian industry, and therefore contains some information in Norwegian. This information basically relates to registration to industry trade fairs through Music Export Norway and our funding programs for the Norwegian industry. The content in Norwegian can be found under the theme "In Norwegian".

About the site

As you might notice, the new site is quite different from the old one. While the top menu speaks for itself, the content is now categorized in themes. The different themes are available from the “What we are working on” slide menu. For example content related to our UK office or international events.

We are working on a new English newsletter, which we encourage you to sign up for through the form on the home page (those of you who already receive it are still on the list). The old content will be available through the search box in the top right corner for a period of time. Please bear with us while we update our older articles to the new format.

New Export Program

Music Export Norway is also happy to introduce our new Export Program. The program is intended as an export funding program towards individual Norwegian projects, with the goal of increasing the export of Norwegian music.

Music Export Norway will grant partial funding for up to two projects per year. Each project may receive up to NOK 300,000 per year for up to three years. The total value per project can be up to NOK 900,000. It is important to emphasize that this export program is open to a wide range of industry professionals, such as production companies, management, music publishers and songwriters, as well as artists in all genres.

The applications will be processed by a professional committee appointed by Music Export Norway's board.
The first deadline to be considered for the program is August 30th. For more information about this program and application forms, follow this link (in Norwegian only).

Ad Hoc funding

In addition to the Export Program, Music Export Norway has launched an Ad Hoc program where Norwegian exporters may apply for so-called ad hoc funding. This means that a total of NOK 300,000 is granted each year for several ongoing projects, with a maximum limit of NOK 50 000 per project.

For more information about this program, follow this link (in Norwegian only).
