by Webmaster, 02.02.2010
67 delegates from 34 companies attended this year's Midem in Cannes. Here you can find pictures and comments from this year's event.
During this year's Midem the Norwegian stand moved up in the Riviera Hall (R 38.05). The close to 70 Norwegian delegates constantly got requests from foreign delegates, and there was undoubtedly a great interest in the Norwegian music industry.
The meeting tables were packed and Music Export Norway's sampler CDs were just as popular this year as they have been in previous years. Especially the new "Rock" - sampler, which was completed just weeks before the event, was a hit.
In addition to the business conducted at the stand, Music Export Norway organized a Nordic welcome party, reception on the stand and the traditional Norwegian dinner for all the Norwegian delegates. Some companies also chose to hold special events at the Scandinavian Terrace on the Croisette in Cannes, including Bach Technologies presenting its new technology, Music DNA.
Hectic days
Most delegates had hectic meeting schedules already from the first day. Among the most eager was the Hacate Entertainment Group.
- This year's Midem has been incredible, says Sarah Chanderia, CEO of Hacate Entertainment Group.
- This is my 17th Midem, and none of the previous has been so active as this Midem have been for us. We have done many good deals, some of which we never thought possible. This has been a good Midem from beginning to end. Hard and honest work pays off and we have worked hard to create a good reputation.
- A good feeling
Musikkoperatørene also waved goodbye to Midem and Cannes with a good feeling.
- We have experienced great optimism, and distributors want to import multiple labels. It has also been easier to make new contacts. Of course, a lot needs to be followed up, but we are left with a very good feeling this year , says Stine Farstad, Musikkoperatørene’s export manager.
